The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) held a discussion panel on July 26 that was attended by representatives from the Associated Press (AP), CNN and CNBC.
This is significant because CPAFFC’s stated goal, according to a 2018 research report issued by the United States government’s China Economic and Security Review Commission (CESRC), is to “malignly influence” American politics in favor of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
A member of China’s “United Front,” a government operation that spends at least $1.4 billion every single year spreading pro-CCP propaganda both in China and abroad, CPAFFC appears to be coordinating with corporate-controlled media outlets here in the U.S. to push a more China-friendly narrative.
The purpose of United Front, according to that same 2018 federal report, is “to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party,” as well as “influence foreign governments to take actions or adopt positions supportive of Beijing’s preferred policies.”
In 2020, then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo declared CPAFFC to be at odds with U.S. interests. Its purpose is to promote a pro-CCP agenda and narrative. (Related: Remember when the CCP unleashed an “army” of internet propagandists to brainwash Americans about the Chinese Virus?)
“CPAFFC’s actions have undermined the Governors Forum’s original well-intentioned purpose,” Pompeo said in a statement at that time.
In a press release that was issued over the weekend, CPAFFC revealed that Jiang Xin, director of the AP’s “Greater China News Department,” would be participating in the discussion. CNN‘s Beijing Bureau Chief was also in attendance.
“The two sides had a candid and friendly exchange of views on China’s domestic and foreign policies, China-U.S. relations, non-governmental exchanges between the two countries and issues of common concern, which enhanced mutual understanding and friendship,” the press release added.
CPAFFC’s president issued is own statement lamenting the fact that many Americans still see communist China as an enemy rather than a partner. He called this viewpoint an “outdated perspective” and urged an immediate change.
“In today’s era of political multi-polarization, economic globalization, and democratization of international relations, the United States still views China from the outdated perspective of ‘you lose, we win, and either friend or enemy is an enemy,'” the president said.
“Positioning China as a major competitor will inevitably lead to strategic misunderstandings, misjudgment and misleading public opinion.”
For some time now, CNN, CNBC and the AP have been pushing anti-American, pro-globalist sentiment in their reporting. Now we can see a little bit more clearly why that is the case, and who these fake news outlets are allied with: the CCP.
“The headline should read ‘Beijing met with fellow communists,'” joked a commenter on a story about the panel discussion.
Another pointed out that based on CPAFFC’s stated mission, CNN, CNBC and the AP are guilty of treason, as defined by the U.S. Constitution.
“According to the U.S. Constitution, Article III, Section 3, §2381: Whoever, owing allegiance to the U.S., levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States,” this person wrote, citing U.S. Code.
